Legislative District 21
Legislative District 21 (LD21) is in the West Valley in Maricopa County. It includes Sun City, El Mirage, Youngtown and parts of Surprise and Peoria. The district includes areas in both Peoria and Dysart Unified School Districts. As of 2020 there are 42 precincts in the district, with a total registered voter population of 135,312.
The demographics in LD21 consists of:
• 24% - 65+ Seniors
• 29% - 40-64 Older Adults
• 20% - 22-39 Younger Adults
• 5% - 18-21 College aged
• 22% - 0-17 Children
Women have a slight majority in the district in all age demographics with the exception of college-aged adults.
LD21 is home to a number of notable employers such as Banner Hospital, Walmart/Sams Club and (soon to be) Microsoft. The district is also the spring training home for the MLB teams, Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, The most prominent industries within the district are healthcare, retail, education, and hospitality. Along with these industries, the most common occupations within LD21 are administrative, sales, management, food service, construction, and education.
